NAIA anti-trafficking offices placed on lockdown after 4 staff test positive for COVID19
MANILA - The government's anti-human-trafficking offices at 3 Manila airport terminals were placed under a 2-week lockdown Wednesday after 4 people working there tested positive for COVID-19. Offices of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Task Force Against Trafficking and the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking at NAIA Terminals 1, 2, and 3 in Pasay City will be closed until July 22 for disinfection and cleansing measures, according to an order signed by IACAT undersecretary-in-charge Emmeline Aglipay-Villar last Tuesday.
This came after 4 out of 18 NAIATFAT workers who underwent swab tests at the Philippine General Hospital 5 days earlier tested positive for COVID-19. The order said these personnel regularly interacted and dealt with the public for their work at the airport, which included helping in repatriation efforts and conducting surveillance. The agency's NAIA personnel, including the others tested, were told to undergo self-quarantine during the 14-day lockdown. The order also mandated work-from-home arrangements for those who can do their assignments outside the office and expected personnel to be on call for urgent matters.
