On March 27, 2020, police fielded a complaint around 8 p.m. that Oakley was off his medications and “had just shot the family dog, lit his father’s truck and shed on fire.”
"so he didn't have to shoot his mother or anyone else," landed in trouble again this past summer for threatening to kill police officers.
“Halifax Fire Department attended the residence and turned off the propane and located bullet holes in each of the two large house propane tanks,” McCabe said.He believed his family were actors and conspiring against him, McCabe said.Police didn’t take the guns belonging to Oakley’s dad as the father had a valid possession and acquisition licence, the weapons were stored securely and his son had been taken into custody, McCabe said.
Oakley was driving his dad’s white GMC pickup truck that day on Coopers Corner Road at about 10:10 a.m. “If he wanted to turn on the police, he might be one of the worst f---ers ever seen in history,” McCabe said, paraphrasing Oakley. The two officers tracked Oakley down again that day just before 1 p.m., telling him they were taking him to hospital.
Two weeks later, an RCMP officer visited the Coopers Corner Road home belonging to Oakley’s parents where he had been staying. The front door was ajar, and inside the officer could see two bows, a crossbow, multiple ammunition cans, an empty gun rack and a double pistol magazine pouch, McCabe said. Their two places on Coopers Corner Road are joined by a field. His mother told police it was normal for their son to go back and forth between those two residences.
