JOHN'S, N.L. — Torngat Mountains MHA Lela Evans is calling for the province to hire a provincial co-ordinator for the sexual assault nurse examiner program.
Women's advocacy groups called for the appointment of a provincial co-ordinator and expansion of the sexual assault nurse examiner program in 2020, but their recommendations have not been implemented, Evans said. “Only having the RNC or RCMP be available to examine victims of sexual assault is creating more anxiety and trauma for many victims,” said Evans.
