ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — Denise Hanrahan says Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador and its various entities need to improve executive oversight, re-evaluate all of their compensation policies and practices and reign in operating expenses.

Those are just a few of the many recommendations the N.L. auditor general and her office made in a report following the government-requested independent review of the province’s only post-secondary university, in which they “found weaknesses in administrative structures that reduced Memorial's oversight of operations; gaps in policy and processes; and inadequate oversight of its entities.

“Memorial did not effectively monitor its financial information, activities from delegated authorities, compensation, and expenses in a meaningful way.”
