Everyone has an idea of how to fix health care in Canada.A political scientist recently told me the health-care crisis is being treated like wartime medicine: everything is being sent to the front. But we don't always take the time to see how everything is connected and that's why I'm encouraged to see there are lots of ideas coming from the people in the trenches. And it seems like people in power are listening.
. She told me: “There are lots of folks around who have been very generous with their time and their ideas on the clinical side. Some retired, some not retired, some students.” Nurses have offered their input to government to help with the human resource shortage. Suggestions have been offered to successive governments to be fair. And a zero tolerance for violence against health-care workers isn’t an idea. It’s a no-brainer.
