WARNING: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander readers are advised the following story contains images of people who have died.A Supreme Court jury took less than three hours to return a guilty verdict against the boys' mother, Leeanne Chrysilla Eatts, 52.The court had heard the boys were seen playing near the river unsupervised on the day of their deaths.
Crown prosecutor David Nardone told the court on Tuesday Ms Eatts knew the boys had not been taught to swim and that the boys liked water and the river would have been an "attraction to them"."For at least one hour and 19 minutes on the 25th of February 2019, the day that the boys drowned, the defendant was simply oblivious to their whereabouts or unconcerned to supervise them," Mr Nardone had told the court during the trial.
Justice North said the jury "must be satisfied that there has been a very serious departure from reasonable standards of care".
