Indonesia encourages the empowerment of MSMEs and improving the quality of MSMEs in ASEAN. ASEAN countries have a large population dominated by the middle class, which is a promising market.

In addition to having a large and promising market, Southeast Asia also has abundant natural resources and industrial potential, including tourism. The population in ASEAN member countries is dominated by middle-class with high purchasing power. With such potential, ASEAN must ensure that its people support the existence and use of local or regional products in the area.
Teten also added that Indonesia proposed that the Cooperative and MSME Marketing Services Institution or Smesco Indonesia be designated as ASEAN Inclusive Business. In line with the action plan, the ASEAN Secretary-General in his speech, read by Le Quang Lan, recommended the need to promote business inclusivity in the ASEAN approach, particularly in the areas of digitization, green economy, and supply chain resilience.
