JAKARTA, Indonesia—PT MPT Indonesia Services, a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corp., is investing P80 billion to build an elevated expressway on
top of the existing Jakarta Outer Ring Road .
“If things run smoothly, we anticipate breaking ground by the second half of next year,” PT Nusantara chief operating officer Joko Santoso told reporters in an interview. The JORR Elevated Toll Road is a 21.6-kilometer elevated expressway that will extend Jatiasih in East Jakarta to Ulujami in South Jakarta, easing traffic congestion in one of Southeast Asia’s busiest urban hubs. Santoso said the toll road construction is in the final stages of technical preparation.
The elevated route aims to serve over a million vehicles daily, addressing a critical need for enhanced traffic flow and connectivity. It will feature dual two-lane roadways spanning the second, third, and fourth levels above the existing JORR network, a route that currently sees between 450,000 vehicles and 570,000 vehicles daily.
“We are working on detailed engineering designs that minimize the impact on existing contractors and ensure traffic safety,” he said.
