MONACO : Lewis Hamilton sounded encouraged by his upgraded Mercedes after the first day of Monaco Grand Prix practice on Friday, even though the principality's tight and twisting streets were no place for a meaningful assessment.
"I’m glad that we were able to keep it on track for them and I think we got a lot of data. It’s not the place to ultimately test an upgrade but the car was generally feeling good." Mercedes are third in the championship but a long way behind champions Red Bull, who have won every race this year and finished one-two in four of the five.
