The ministry of transport is hoping to see the My50 initiative continue under Budget 2025, which is set to be presented in October. Its minister, Anthony Loke, has expressed support for the initiative, noting its vital role in providing affordable public transport to Klang Valley residents, which in turn helps to ease traffic congestion.

“We’ve seen a significant increase in allocations, such as the My50 initiative, which was raised from RM100 million to RM200 million in last year’s budget,' the minister told reporters yesterday during a press conference. 'I hope this initiative will be sustained next year.” Loke shared that the number of My50 users has been steadily rising, surpassing 200,000 each month. He also revealed that daily rail users in the Klang Valley now average nearly 900,000, and when combined with bus services, the total number of public transport riders exceeds 1.1 million per day.

“We know that the Klang Valley faces major traffic congestion therefore, there is a need to continue our efforts to improve the public transport system so more residents can utilise it,' he added. 'I hope the initiatives and projects we have requested will be considered by the finance ministry.”
