Jephosin Zosobrado Cantunao, a 30-year-old construction worker from Lapu-Lapu City, was apprehended by the CIDG for the murder of Rico Oquiño in August 2024. Cantunao, who was the most wanted individual in Central Visayas, was arrested based on a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Chaunsey Torejas Boholst of RTC 7, Branch 18, in Cebu City.

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group ( CIDG ) Lapu-Lapu City Field Unit apprehended Jephosin Zosobrado Cantunao, 30, a construction worker who resides in Barangay Bangkal, Lapu-Lapu City, on Thursday, January 23, 2025. Cantunao was the most wanted individual in Central Visayas and was arrested based on a warrant of arrest issued for his involvement in the murder case.

The warrant, issued by Judge Chaunsey Torejas Boholst of RTC 7, Branch 18, in Cebu City on January 22, 2025, carried a P120,000 bail. The CIDG tracker team, led by Police Captain Joel Deiparine, initially went to Cantunao's residence in Barangay Matab-ang, Toledo City, but he was not there. Information led them to believe that Cantunao had moved to Barangay Canduman in Mandaue City and was working as a school bus driver for a private school. The next day, January 23, the team went to the school where Cantunao was employed, and the security personnel informed them of his whereabouts, resulting in his apprehension.Cantunao's arrest is part of the CIDG's flagship program, 'Oplan Pagtugis,' which targets the most wanted individuals evading justice. Cantunao is accused of killing Rico Oquiño, a 25-year-old ex-convict, in Sitio Upper Puti, Barangay Buhisan, Cebu City, last August. Jealousy is reportedly the motive behind the incident, as Cantunao's former partner, Jarissa Biasong, 27, was dating Oquiño. It is alleged that Cantunao repeatedly threatened Oquiño. On August 26, 2024, at around 8 pm, Cantunao went to Biasong's house to give support to their three-year-old child, but an argument ensued between him and Oquiño. Cantunao left, but a few minutes later, he returned with a knife, stabbed Oquiño on the street, and then fatally struck him in the neck. After the incident, Cantunao went into hiding and did not appear before his former partner. However, a homicide case was filed against him at the Labangon Police Station
