The Mooseheads are working several rookies into the league and are also without five of their best players but Midgley was not interested in using that as an excuse. Mathieu Cataford , Jordan Dumais , Mathis Rousseau , Jake Furlong and Dylan MacKinnon are all away at NHL camps so those are holes that are virtually impossible to fill internally.

Third-year winger Logan Crosby was the only scorer in Saturday's loss in Charlottetown and rookie Liam Kilfoil had the lone goal in the 3-1 defeat at the Scotiabank Centre the night before. Aksels Ozols made 19 saves for Charlottetown. Rookie Jack Milner made his second straight start for Halifax and turned aside 27 shots.
