Yellow warning raised in the following areas due to bad weather: • Metro Manila • Zambales • Bataan • Rizal
Parts of the country are experiencing bad weather today, due to the combined effects of an enhanced southwest monsoon, or habagat, and a low pressure area , weather officials said Friday.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said an LPA in the country and the tropical storm “Wipha” currently south of China are strengthening the southwest monsoon. The provinces of Bataan, Pangasinan and Zambales are the most affected areas and are currently experiencing heavy rains.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila, Cordillera Region, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, the rest of Ilocos Region and Central Luzon have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. The trough of the LPA is also bringing cloudy skies, scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to the Bicol Region, the entire Visayas, Caraga region and Northern Mindanao. The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers, PAGASA added.
Weather officials do not expect the LPA to hit land but it may develop into a tropical depression as it moves away from the country. However, there may be changes to the LPA’s activity once Wipha dissipates, PAGASA added. The LPA was last seen 915 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes.
