The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has announced that provincial buses will be permitted to travel along EDSA from December 20 to January 2, 2025, to accommodate more passengers and increase turnaround times during the holiday season . An estimated 2,100 buses will benefit from this scheme. Buses from the north will terminate at Cubao, Quezon City, while those from the south will end at Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange or Pasay City.

Chairman Don Artes of MMDA expects the number of vehicles on EDSA to increase to between 470,000 and 480,000 during the second and third weeks of December, with travel speeds dropping to around 15 kph as Christmas approaches. The duty hours for MMDA traffic personnel will be extended to midnight during this period
