“We have to understand a legacy that Mr Perrottet is going to leave for future governments,” Mr Minns said.
“If we win the election on the 25th of March, we’ll be handed the largest debt NSW has ever seen. That’s $200 billion and the interest on that debt is $7 billion.
He also defended the Coalition’s track record of privatisation, arguing that sell-offs including the state’s energy transmission infrastructure known as “poles and wires”, which generated $15 billion for the government, had brought efficiency and lower costs in utilities providers. Mr Perrottet saved his strongest criticism for Labor’s skills in economic management, arguing that a Labor government would not be able to keep a handle on costs.“What Chris can’t tell you is how we will pay for his promises,” he said. “Because it’s obvious in relation to public-sector wages, as his cost is $0. That is not going to happen. And what happens is expenses spiral out of control, and that has real consequences.
