Karina Gould, the minister of Families, Children and Social Development, makes a stop in Sudbury to announce $506,000 for the Carrefour francophone de Sudbury for 'childhood in the forest' project

More than half a million dollars in federal funding is being provided to the Carrefour francophone de Sudbury for an innovative child care project that takes youngsters into a forestry setting for a learning experience focused on ecology.

Gould said one of the goals of child care in Canada is to improve and build on what we have with new ideas and innovation. Gould added that while there are several innovative projects happening across Canada, she was pleased to see Sudbury stepping up. "The need for high-quality, affordable, flexible, inclusive, childcare is no longer a luxury. And it's really a necessity. And this is why we're doing what we're doing," Serré said.
