KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 18 individuals from various races who received MyHero awards in 2014, 2016 and 2018 have been appointed as Unity Ambassadors, says Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang.

The National Unity Minister said the move was to appreciate the services and contributions of these unsung heroes who had never received recognition from any organisation or individual."This is the spirit of friendship and unity that needs to be practised by people from all walks of life in this country so that harmony and well-being are preserved," he said.

His speech text was read by the ministry’s deputy secretary-general Dr Kang Tong Hum at the launch of the MyHero 4.0 Award, here Saturday . Aaron said the Unity Ambassadors were involved in programmes to inspire and convey messages and nurture good values among the people, especially the young generation in efforts to forge close relationships among races.

Meanwhile, he said the ministry supported the MyHero Award, hosted by the Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Kuala Lumpur and Selangor , which entered its fourth edition this year. He said it was a noble initiative that should be commended for giving recognition to Malaysians who show perseverance, courage and determination in helping other citizens regardless of religion and race.
