The national minimum wage, which is earned by about 184,000 workers not on modern awards, has also been readjusted to align with a C-13 wage rate, as opposed to the previous C-14 rate.

The bulk of the country's 2.5 million minimum wage workers, who are on modern awards, will only get the 5.75 per cent increase. Unions had called for it to be increased in line with inflation, currently trending at an annual rate of 6.8 per cent.
