Canlas aims to promote Filipino culture, cuisine, and nationalism through the book, which was inspired by his husband, Chef Miggy Cabel Moreno, and his advocacy for Mindanaoan food. The book, co-written by Moreno's sister, Dr. Ma. Isabel Cabel Moreno-Go, is written in three languages: Tagalog, English, and Tausug, promoting inclusivity and cultural understanding.
