“Yeah, it’s definitely a great accomplishment and it’s something that I'm proud of,” Benesch said about the milestone. “It’s a credit to the coaching staff and my teammates that I played with along the way. They’re the ones that allow me to play the way that I play and have the success that I’ve had. I can never take credit for all of my accomplishments. It’s always a team first thing.
It was a game of scoring runs. Three goals by Buffalo’s Ian MacKay in the first quarter put the host side down 3-0 after 15 minutes.Buffalo came out of intermission with two goals 25 seconds apart before Halifax scored three straight in a span of 1:38. League scoring leader Dhane Smith then took over, notching two late goals in the third quarter and adding another early in the fourth as part of a four-goal outburst by the Bandits.
Halifax slips below .500 for the second time this season and is 3-3 at Scotiabank Centre. The Thunderbirds, who are four games behind the Bandits for the East Conference lead, visit Buffalo next Friday night.
