Arguably Malaysia’s most famous individual, international awards and recognitions can’t stop pouring in for Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh following her Oscar-winning performance in Everything Everywhere All At Once.
The first-ever actress of Asian descent to win an Oscar for Best Actress, she also won a Golden Globe and a SAG award for the same performance. Now, Yeoh is set to be celebrated with another prestigious award at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival, the Kering 2023 Women in Motion Award!, Yeoh was chosen for the recognition by François-Henri Pinault, chairman and CEO of Kering, Iris Knobloch, the new president of the Cannes Film Festival and Thierry Frémaux, Cannes Festival’s director.
She will be presented with the award at the glamorous Women in Motion Dinner at Cannes Film Festival in May 2023. Dedicated to honouring women in cinema, the dinner is part of the pioneering Women in Motion programme started in 2015 which seeks to highlight the creativity and contribution made by women in the world of culture and arts.
Yeoh will be joining an exclusive list of honourees who have won the award before. The list of past recipients includes Jane Fonda, Geena Davis, Viola Davis, Susan Sarandon, Isabelle Huppert, Patty Jenkins, Gong Li and Salma Hayek. Congratulations to Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh for bagging yet another award! All the successes she had received have been well-deserved and she continues to be an inspiration for all of us.
