Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh has returned to Malaysia with the Oscar statuette.
She presented the gold-plated statuette to her 83-year-old mother, Janet Yeoh, and brought it to pay homage to her father Datuk Yeoh Kian Tiek. Michelle Yeoh, who made history at the Oscars and became the first Asian woman actress to win the honour, announced her return on Facebook. Michelle Yeoh also uploaded two photos; one is her mother holding the statuette trophy brought back by her.It is understood that Michelle Yeoh returned to Ipoh to visit the grave last weekend.She will fly back to Kuala Lumpur to attend a fan meeting at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur on 18 April.Mark your calendar!!— Vivian alias L.Y.T.
The 61-year-old is among six Asians who have earned acting Oscars in the awards’ 95-year history, alongside Vietnam-born Ke Huy Quan.The previous Asian winners of acting Oscars were Miyoshi Umeki , Ben Kingsley , Haing S.Ngor and Yuh-Jung Youn .
