U.K. debate highlights teachers\u0027 and parents\u0027 responsibility to guide children and prepare them for the future
At her school, children are expected to clear plates at lunches; they receive demerit points for such infractions as forgetting a pen; they walk in orderly, single file in corridor; and phones aren’t permitted in class.
In her speech, Birbalsingh said part of the success at Michaela was that her teachers had seen for themselves how adult authority had disappeared from classrooms elsewhere.Article content She added that Michaela was an example of “what can be achieved when conservative values permeate a school’s culture, where the adults, not the children, lead. But if children are leading the culture in many of our schools, is it any wonder that wokism is so embedded?”
She said she believed that it was worth teaching those values in schools and that those who learned them might go on to shape society and define the ruling culture.
