Power distributors have declared that they are no longer responsible for the provision of meters to electricity consumers across the country.

It was also gathered from the Discos that the monetary shortfall in Nigeria’s power had risen to over N1.4tn despite the marginal improvement in revenue collection by the electricity distributors on behalf of the industry.

But this was not enough to address the over N1.4tn shortfall in the sector, just as the Executive Director, ANED, Sunday Oduntan, stressed that it was no more the responsibility of Discos to provide meters for customers. Oduntan said that with the licensing of the Meter Asset Providers, the Discos would now concentrate on addressing other challenges in the power supply business.
