Met Eireann has issued a weather warning for 12 counties as heavy fog will remain in place over many areas this morning.
The Status Yellow alert was sent out early today and will remain in place until 12 midday, and applies to all of Connacht, Cavan, Monaghan, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly and Westmeath.The mist is set to clear slowly to give some bright intervals today, and most parts of the country will stay dry, apart from isolated showers.
However there will be light rain and drizzle in coastal counties in the south and southeast, which will edge a little further northwards during the evening.Tuesday morning will be mostly wet, but drier in the south and southwest with just scattered showers there. Met Eireann says: "The rain will gradually clear eastwards through the morning, leaving sunny spells and isolated showers by the afternoon. It will be blustery in the morning with fresh to strong westerly winds, but they will ease through the afternoon, becoming light and variable by evening."The rest of the week is looking mild and unsettled, with plenty of rain and breezy or windy spells.
Cloud will build from the south as the day goes on, though, with patchy rain moving into southern areas in the evening.
