Met Eireann issue urgent weather warning for five counties on Christmas Day

BREAKING. It'll mean you'll have to be very careful if you're travelling to see loved ones.

The Status Yellow rain warning will be in place for Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow and Waterford.As for the rest of the country, there is set to be plenty of rain and unsettled conditions in the days ahead.Highest temperatures will be 8 to 11C and it will be breezy at times too with moderate to fresh southeast winds, strong at times over Ulster.

A forecaster said: "A wet, cloudy and breezy start to Christmas Day with widespread rain, heavy at times with a risk of spot flooding. The forecaster continued: "St Stephen's Day [will bring] a mix of cloud and sunny spells with scattered showers, most frequent over Connacht and Ulster. Highest temperatures of 7 to 10C.
