PETALING JAYA: China have a new threat in the men’s doubles in the form of Chen Boyang-Liu Yi.

Boyang-Liu Yi only qualified to compete in World Tour events this year but have made an immediate impact.

Boyang-Liu Yi stunned Indonesia’s 2022 All-England winners Shohibul Fikri-Bagas Maulana 21-19, 21-17 in the final on Sunday in Orleans, France. It was the Chinese pair’s second World Tour title in a row after they won the China Masters crown last month.“We were grateful for this chance to compete against our excellent opponents,” said Liu Yi, as stated in the Badminton World Federation website.“We trained with some seasoned pairs so we were not afraid to play the Indonesians.”
