“People are looking at so many pictures all the time that we want to see something that looks desaturated and less constrasty and less digital,” she says. “Our eyes need a rest.”Article content “I pair things quite blatantly, but that’s what I like about collages,” she says, “You can have this mix that’s jarring, but it still reflects art after the Internet.”The works by Gallagher, a 27-year-old artist/drag queen who lives in Halifax and uses they/them pronouns, illustrate the dramatic impact of the pandemic on their gender-busting practice.Article content
“I found I really liked bringing this video-game aesthetic into a more queer drag context,” Gallagher says. “It’s a very digital aesthetic in the analog photography space.”
