Melinda MacKenzie for the NDP, Clare Brett for the Green Party, Mary Elliott for the Liberals and Marco MacLeod for the Conservatives.Melinda Mackenzie describes herself as a “teacher first and foremost” and is no stranger to municipal politics. She is a councillor for the town of Pictou, but recently, her journey has taken her to the next level.
When asked about how she plans to make a difference in the community, she touched on topics such as healthcare, education, and climate change. “I previously had never been into politics much, but sometimes, if you want change to happen, you have to walk the walk and talk the talk,” Brett said. “I’m passionate about the issues in our community. Affordability, healthcare, and housing are all issues we need to be doing better on,” Elliot said.
Back at the family farm, MacLeod is well-known in the community for his involvement in 4H, teaching youth about weightlifting, and running events like a woodsmen competition and a strongman competition.
