Valenzuela City Mayor Weslie “Wes” Gatchalian led the inauguration of the Dr. Pio Valenzuela Museum in Brgy. Pariancillo Villa, Valenzuela City on Tuesday, Feb. 14.
“Today is extra-special, not only because we are celebrating Valentine’s Day and the 25th Charter Day anniversary, but today is a combination of 400 years of transformation as we start our year-long exciting activities for the city,” Gatchalian said.
The mayor said the museum was a reconstruction of the former house of the late Dr. Pio Valenzuela, which was originally built in the 19th century and was one of the most important structures in the city. The planning and construction of Dr. Pio Valenzuela Museum started under the administration of former Valenzuela Mayor Sherwin “Win” Gatchalian pursuant to City Ordinances 311 and 379 in 2017.He said the museum relives the memories and rich history of the city and honors the life and works of Dr. Pio Valenzuela.Valenzuela City Vice Mayor Lorena Natividad-Borja said the museum project also seeks to educate the youth on Valenzuela’s City’s rich history.
The mayor and vice mayor unveiled the historical plaque of the museum and signed the “Panandang pangkasaysayan” or historical marker.
