Matt Smith and Lily James 'split' as couple couldn't 'get past differences'

Lily wants to date someone out of the spotlight

The Doctor Who actor, 37, whose show The Crown's third season was watched by over 21million people, and Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again! actress, 31, are said to have gone their separate ways after failing to get past certain differences.

An insider said: "Lily and Matt were a picture-perfect couple for years but there are just some differences they haven’t been able to get past. “They adore each other and want to stay friends but as far as their romance goes, she has told ­everyone it’s over for good," the source continued to tell The Sun Online.

The pair kept their romance out of the media, with Lily once having told the Daily Mirror: "Me and Matt are not together.
