The “nutribun” or fortified bun has been having a resurgence ever since Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. became president earlier this year.
It’s no wonder then that House members like Laguna 1st district Rep. Ma. Rene Ann Lourdes Matibag are putting their own spin on the nutribun as they tap the product for socio-civic activities and projects.
“What a dream come true for my LaguNanays!!! NurtribAnn is truly back in the Philippines and I am so proud and thankful for my SamahAnn ng MaaasahAnn na KababaihAnn for piloting this project and producing nutribuns in the province of Laguna,” Matibag declared in a recent Facebook post. The nutribun first gained popularity some 50 years ago during the time of the late former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr.–father of the current chief executive.
Matibag was also delighted over the fact that presidential sister, Senator Imee Marcos was in full support of her rather clever “NurtribAnn” activity. “To Senator Senator Imee R. Marcos you are an inspiration to the kababaihans of San Pedro for doing programs like this with a cause for the youth in the 1st District of Laguna – Sta. Rosa, Biñan and San Pedro. Ako din po ay susuporta sa kanilang livelihood program na kapakipakinabang para sa ating mga kabataan ,” the lady solon said.
