Russian cybercriminals claimed to have posted more than 1 terabyte of stolen data on the dark web in June. The firm's clients include the big four banks and the federal health department.
"Impacted entities are commencing the process of notifying affected individuals about the impacts the data breach has had on their information."Air Marshal Goldie said he was continuing to hold meetings with HWL Ebsworth to coordinate the response to the hack.
"We will work to ensure the lessons from this incident are shared so that we can continue to collectively bolster our responses to cyber incidents," he said. While announcing the appointment of the national cyber security coordinator, Home Affairs Minister Clare O'Neil said the hack of the law firm was "a very significant incident".
"I would place it in the realm of the most significant cyber incidents that we've experienced as a country over the last year, along with Latitude, Optus and Medibank," she said last month."On 9 June 2023, we became aware that the threat actor had published on their dark web forum at least some of the data they claim to have taken," the company said in a statement on its website.
