The sustainability sector is growing and presents many opportunities, often disguised as challenges, for those seeking an entry.

asked two women leaders in sustainability and energy to share their insights into the sector.Despite the complexity that changes bring, solutions will evolve, says SGH Energy CEO Margaret Hall.I graduated from university with a metallurgical engineering degree in 1992. There were very few females in the cohort, but it was collegiate, the lecturers were supportive and inclusive, and uni life was a lot of fun.

There’s been a few challenges along the way that were more than just having a tough assignment. There is complexity and uncertainty, but I have optimism that humans, being the inventive creatures that we are, will find solutions. Let’s not be daunted by naysayers and fear but use our intelligence and resources.

The project is necessarily complex and challenging. We’re in the design and approvals phase, the most creative and innovative time for any project. As environmental surveys are carried out, our engineers are revising the modelling, and we’re getting clearer on how Marinus Link will come to life.
