But that was already clear for years before. Players, their families and friends and other participants have filled the booths every spring at Morrison’s other restaurants around Sydney, such as Flavor Downtown in Sydney and Flavor 19 at the Lingan Golf Club.

The local economic impact of the tournament — which is estimated to be $5-million every year — was obvious around Cape Breton Regional Municipality. “In the past 15 years, I could notice a difference,” he said, “from participants who came to Flavor Downtown for breakfast or Flavor 19, where we hosted VIPs.
