President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Tuesday urged local government units to lead the country as the economy emerges from the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a speech before officers of the League of Cities of the Philippines, Marcos said that some of the “best talent” in government came from among local officials.
“Let’s keep that truism in our minds and make it and show to people that is what exactly what will going to happen,” he added. LPC National President and Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama, who is currently in self-quarantine after contracting COVID-19, joined the meeting via video conference.Marcos earlier called on local officials toin order for face-to-face classes to resume safely and for the economy to fully reopen.
