Timmins signed a two-year contract extension with a $1.1 million (U.S.) annual average, the team announced Thursday.
Timmins, who has worked in and out of the lineup this season and provided depth to a Leafs’ blue line that’s been ravaged by injuries, was acquired in a trade with the Arizona Coyotes in November. Since joining Toronto, he has posted a goal and 11 assists in 18 games. Drafted 32nd overall in 2017, Timmins had no goals and seven assists in 41 previous career games split between Colorado and Arizona.
The Leafs made other roster moves as they returned to practice Thursday after an extended all-star break and announced. Goalie Matt Murray was placed on injured reserve while the team recalled forwards Alex Steeves, Pontus Holmberg and goalie Joseph Woll from the Marlies.
