LAVAL, QUE. — Construction industry supplier MAPEI Inc. held an official commissioning ceremony for its powders production and warehouse expansion project at its flagship facility in Laval, Que. earlier this month. The new powder line will produce 30,000 tons per year per shift, and a new admixtures line will produce 7,000 tons per year per shift, stated a release. An additional 50,750 square feet of warehousing space will complement the previous 128,000-square-foot polymers plant, R&D Center for Excellence in Concrete Construction, and Canadian head office, also located at the site.
Notable projects MAPEI has contributed to in recent years include the Minoru Aquatic Centre in Richmond, B.C., Toronto’s Union Station and the Avenir Centre in Moncton, N.B. The firm expanded into Canada from Italy after supplying the installation of athletics facilities for the 1976 Montreal Olympics.
