Queensland Ballet’s artistic director Li Cunxin and the Howard Smith Wharves were recognised for their role in an evolving Brisbane at the 2023 Lord Mayor’s Business Awards.
The ballet master known as Mao’s Last Dancer and the business that forever changed the rundown docks under Brisbane’s Story Bridge were honoured in Brisbane’s major business awards last night.

The Better Brisbane Award, inaugurally won by Howard Smith Wharves, will honour businesses that “make a significant contribution to the city’s unstoppable momentum”, Schrinner said.The renovation of Howard Smith Wharves goes back to Campbell Newman’s days as Brisbane lord mayor.
