Swimmers and surfers evacuated the water at Manly Beach on Thursday morning after a shark was detected nearby.
Swimmers and surfers were told to immediately evacuate after a shark listening station offshore registered a tagged shark in the Manly Beach area at about 7.50am.
Competitors warming up ahead of day two of the NSW Surf Life Saving Masters Championship were also evacuated. Water safety jet skis and drones were already on the water in preparation for the competition and helped lifeguards complete a thorough search of the area.The Master Championships was the fourth competition in the broader NSW Surf Life Saving Championships which begun on February 17.
