Manila police stop priest for carrying 'dead' body when it is actually Jesus statue

Kuala Lumpur: Police in Manila pulled a Catholic priest over after suspecting he was transporting a dead body wrapped in plastic.

Only after a thorough inspection that included the priest removing the plastic was it confirmed he was actually ferrying a statue of Jesus Christ that would be used in the upcoming Holy Week, Inquirer reported. Police had blocked the priest, Fr. Jonel Peroy, at a checkpoint in Kidapawan, Cotabato City after the holy man picked up the life-sized statue from Digos City, Davao del Sur.

He was only released after officers confirmed the 'body' was indeed a statue.
