MORE than 300 police personnel will be deployed across Mandaue City as part of heightened security measures for the Misa de Gallo, or Simbang Gabi, the traditional Filipino dawn masses set to begin on Monday, Dec. 16, 2024.In an interview on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2024, Lieutenant Colonel Mercy Villaro, spokesperson of the Mandaue City Police Office , assured residents that preparations are in place to ensure the safety of parishioners during the Christmas season.
Major public spaces, such as malls, wharves, and transport hubs, will also see increased police visibility to deter criminal activity and ensure the smooth flow of people during the holiday season.“Our personnel will work 24/7 during the entire period of Misa de Gallo to guarantee peace and order,” Villaro said.She added that security inspections, including bag checks and crowd control measures, may be implemented to prevent untoward incidents.
