Manchester United had considered bringing Kieran McKenna back to Old Trafford after back-to-back promotions with Ipswich Town
Kieran McKenna has signed a new four-year contract with newly-promoted Ipswich Town amid links to Manchester United.
United, along with Chelsea and Brighton & Hove Albion, had all expressed interest with representatives from Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge contacting the manager's entourage. The Manchester Evening News reported last week that the United hierarchy had outlined McKenna as a possible replacement for Ten Hag but their focus remained on the FA Cup final at Wembley against Manchester City.
Meanwhile, Ipswich majority owner Ed Schwartz reportedly flew in from the United States to hold talks alongside club chief executive Mark Ashton. He spent two seasons coaching United's under-18s team before taking over as first-team coach following the departure of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Manchester Evening News understands no decision is imminent on the future of Ten Hag and the club is likely to announce the outcome of their end-of-season review next week.
