Phil Barsley played for both and can still see their respective seasons being a success
Phil Bardsley believes the break gives Philippe Clement vital time to deliver positive messages that can revive Rangers.
Ten Hag is facing the same fierce flak as Clement for his team’s underwhelming beginning to the season and the home savaging by Liverpool on day Rangers were dismantled in the East End just prior to the internationals placed him under the searing heat of severe scrutiny. “I’m sure the managers have a little bit of time during this international break to get some messages across and, hopefully, they will be positive ones. From United’s point of view, there has been a lot of new players coming into the squad and they need time to gel. But it is early doors and hopefully we dust the result against Liverpool off and really kick-on for the season.
Of course, Bardsley has a close friend within the building at The Rangers Training Centre to ensure he stays firmly on top of his life at Ibrox. The former defender scored and was sent-off during his brief five-game loan spell at the club during the Paul Le Guen reign. Bardsley is hoping to see Butland perform in person when his old employers go head-to-head during the Europa League schedule. Rangers face United in Manchester and he’s excited for the encounter as he stated: “I really am. To be fair, I love the new format. I think it’s great playing more teams in the league sections and having Rangers back at Old Trafford is something I really look forward to. It should be a great night.
