On April 27, police received multiple complaints about a pickup truck travelling up and down residential streets at a high speed in the town of Thessalon.

Alexandre Charpentier-Ciotti pleaded guilty to eight charges, including firearms offences, stemming from the incident. Shortly after 3 p.m., the vehicle was spotted travelling erratically on the highway and hitting the shoulder on numerous occasions. The serial number on the gun had been sawed off, the prosecutor said, noting Charpentier-Ciotti was prohibited from possessing weapons.

The Crown and defence lawyer Ken Walker jointly called for 30 months jail, less credit for pre-sentence custody, for the April offences, 60 days consecutive for the curfew breach and three years probation.The circumstances around his driving that day were "very dangerous," Hagan said.
