A disqualified driver was allegedly high on methylamphetamine when he raced away from a random breath testing site in Victoria on Christmas Day, striking a police officer in the process.
Victoria Police said officers noticed a Ford Falcon ute stop short of the testing site “to avoid the operation” in Bacchus Marsh at about 8.25pm on Sunday.
“The police officer attempted to jump out of the road however his leg was struck as the vehicle was fleeing,” a Victoria Police statement said. “It’s alleged the vehicle travelled on the wrong side of the road at excessive speeds while driving from the site, causing numerous vehicles to take evasive action.”
A member of the public then contacted police a short time later to report a car was bogged after driving into a paddock near Lord Street.
