The 54-year-old man was knocked off his bike and residents performed CPR on him as he lay on Elizabeth Street in Hurstville about 6pm yesterday, but he died at the scene. 

The 17-year-old driver stopped and was visibly distressed, with witnesses telling 9News she was comforted by loved ones as police responded."The 17-year-old driver of the car was not injured; she has undergone mandatory testing at St George Hospital," NSW Police said in a statement. "Officers from St George Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash."

Residents told 9News there have been safety concerns about the intersection for years before the deadly crash.Continue reading
