NSW Police have confirmed the 44-year-old man - who died after being 'thrown to the ground' in a horror e-scooter accident - was not wearing a helmet at the time.

Officers also confirmed the man was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, and is yet to be identified.

A crime scene has been established in the nearby area with an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash underway. According to NSW laws, personal e-scooters remain illegal on state roads and road-related areas, including footpaths, shares paths and bicycle lanes, and can only be used on private property.In selected areas riders are able to hire and legally ride e-scooters with a 10km speed limit enforced.

The trial which began in July 2022 is expected to last for 12 months, and will be evaluated and monitored by Transport for NSW. Anyone with information about the incident on Saturday night is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
