A 36-year-old man has died while a woman has been rushed to hospital following a serious crash in Tasmania's north.
Their car left the roadway, colliding with a power pole on Faraday Street, Ravenswood.
Emergency services raced to the crash site however the 36-year-old male was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman, also 36, who was the only other occupant in the car, was transported to Launceston General Hospital with"non-life-threatening injuries". Police remained at the scene in Ravenswood throughout the morning as officers began to investigate the cause of death.
It is not yet known what caused the car to crash into a power pole, and both victims have not yet been identified. Faraday Street was closed between Magnet Street and Faulkner Road roundabouts, but as of 9.30am the area has re-opened to traffic.
