A man has been killed when his car struck a tree in Melbourne’s northwest. Emergency services were called to Somerton Rd in Oaklands Junction just before 1am on Tuesday to reports the car had come off the road and crashed.

The driver and sole occupant of the car, a 52-year-old man from Meadow Heights, died at the scene. The white car was crushed due to the impact, with the bonnet completely caved in. The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are yet to be determined and investigations remain ongoing. Anyone who witnessed the incident or may have dashcam footage is urged to contact police.
